This 3 × 5 ft reproduction flag features the emblem of the Marxist–Leninist Communist Party (MLKP), a revolutionary Marxist–Leninist organization founded in Turkey in 1994. The design consists of a red field bearing a large yellow hammer and sickle, the initials MLKP, and a red five-pointed star enclosed within a yellow circle.
The MLKP emerged through the merger of several underground communist organizations with the goal of creating a unified revolutionary movement in Turkey. Since its founding, the party’s flag has become its primary identifying symbol and has appeared at political demonstrations, commemorative events, and alongside allied left-wing organizations. During the Syrian Civil War, MLKP volunteers also fought within the International Freedom Battalion, bringing the flag additional recognition outside Turkey.
Whether displayed as part of a historical collection, educational exhibit, theatrical production, or personal collection of political memorabilia, this reproduction faithfully captures one of the more recognizable symbols of the modern Turkish far-left movement.

Historical Context
The Marxist–Leninist Communist Party (Marksist-Leninist Komünist Partisi) was established on September 10, 1994, following the merger of several revolutionary communist organizations operating in Turkey. The party advocates a Marxist–Leninist political ideology and has historically operated as an underground organization due to government restrictions and prosecutions.
Its emblem incorporates several traditional communist symbols. The hammer and sickle represent the alliance of industrial workers and peasants, while the red star is a longstanding emblem of revolutionary socialism. The initials MLKP identify the organization, and the yellow circle surrounding the star serves as a distinctive element of the party’s official insignia.
Beginning in 2015, MLKP members participated in the International Freedom Battalion, a coalition of foreign and regional leftist volunteers fighting alongside Kurdish-led forces in northern Syria. As a result, the flag has appeared in a variety of historical photographs documenting political rallies, memorial ceremonies, and armed conflicts involving the organization.
