Description

Reproduction flag associated with Hamas and its armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

The flag features a dark green background with white Arabic calligraphy, organizational emblems, and Qur’anic inscriptions. The center displays the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith:

لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله

Meaning:

“There is no god but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.”

Near the top is the circular emblem of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, featuring a masked fighter holding a rifle in front of the Dome of the Rock. The surrounding Arabic text identifies the Brigades of the Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam.

The upper inscription beside the emblem reads أمدّونا أعانكم الله, approximately meaning “Support us; may God aid you.”

Near the bottom, the large white Arabic word حماس reads “Hamas.” It is combined with the Hamas emblem, which incorporates the Dome of the Rock, crossed swords, Palestinian flags, and the organization’s full Arabic name.

The vertical inscriptions reproduce Qur’anic passages connected with armed struggle and sacrifice. One side contains part of Qur’an 8:60, beginning:

وأعدوا لهم ما استطعتم من قوة ومن رباط الخيل

Meaning:

“Prepare against them whatever force and trained horses you are able.”

The opposite side contains part of Qur’an 9:111, beginning:

إن الله اشترى من المؤمنين أنفسهم وأموالهم بأن لهم الجنة

Meaning:

“Indeed, God has purchased from the believers their lives and their wealth in exchange for Paradise.”

This is a newly manufactured reproduction intended for historical study, educational displays, private collections, vexillology, and theatrical or documentary productions.

Historical Context

Hamas, an Arabic acronym for the Islamic Resistance Movement, was established during the First Intifada in 1987. Its political and social organization uses a separate emblem from its armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

Named after Syrian-Palestinian preacher and militant Izz al-Din al-Qassam, the Brigades were formally established during the early 1990s. Their emblem commonly depicts a masked fighter carrying a rifle in front of the Dome of the Rock.

This flag combines symbols associated with both the broader Hamas movement and the Al-Qassam Brigades. The Hamas name and movement emblem appear near the bottom, while the armed wing’s circular emblem appears near the top. The central Shahada and surrounding Qur’anic passages emphasize the organization’s Islamist identity and its presentation of armed activity in religious terms.

Hamas is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States and several other governments. This reproduction is offered solely as a historical, educational, reference, theatrical, or collectible item.
