This patch is a faithful reproduction of the “313” motif associated with Kataib Hezbollah (KH), an Iran-backed Iraqi Shi’a militia that operates as part of Iraq’s state-funded Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF). The minimalist square design combines “313” with an AK-style silhouette—“313” is a Shi’a symbol referring to the prophesied core companions of the Mahdi, and KH personnel have been documented using “313” on field attire (e.g., boonie hats and name tapes). Within the PMF structure, KH also runs an internal Unit 313 (special forces), which further explains the prevalence of the 313 designation.
