Formed in 2015 during the nascent years of Donbass’ fight for liberation as the evolution of the famed Vostok Battalion, the 11^th Separate Guards continued in Vostok’s role as one of DNR’s spetsnaz (SOF) formations, due to their great number of veteran soldiers and post-Maidan Ukrainian intelligence defectors. Now, following DNR’s 2022 referendum, the unit continues its mission to protect the people of Donbass, and now, all Russians, as the 114^th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 1^st Donetsk Army Corps of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
